About Our Services:

We're planning on building a new home and have no physical disabilities. Why do we need an accessibility consultation?

We specialize in lifetime design concepts. You may have friends or acquaintances with special needs that you would want to invite into your home or you may have a parent or other relative who needs to stay with you or to move in. Our design review can help you design your home to easily accommodate these types of future needs. Many of the features of an accessible home also make your day to day life easier. For example: 3-0 doors throughout the home make passage easy for someone on crutches, with a walker or in a wheelchair while at the same time make moving furniture into or out of rooms easier than with standard width doors.

We're planning on building our dream home for our retirement. What help can Access Design provide for us?

Many people focus on the design features or location that they have always wanted for their retirement home but fail to adequately prepare for future needs. We would all like to think that we will always be in perfect health and be able to get around as well as we ever could: however this may not always be the case. We can help you make sure that your dream home remains a very comfortable and fully usable space for you. With careful planing your home can remain fully accessible and allow you to age gracefully in your own space. Most features that make a home fully accessible add very little cost or are no more expensive than the "standard" construction methods but can save you thousands of dollars in future remodeling costs if you want to continue to stay in your home.

I own a business and as such my establishment is required to be ADA compliant. Doesn't that assure me that it is fully accessible?

The Americans with Disabilities Act sets the minimum standards for accessibility. As a business owner it is to your advantage to make your customers as comfortable as possible so that they will become repeat customers. Since you already are required to go to the expense of being minimally accessible there is relatively little added expense to make your establishment fully usable to as wide a spectrum of potential customers as possible. Spending a little more up front to attract more customers makes good business sense.
